A Knox County teacher was named Tennessee's teacher of the year.
Wanda Lacy was previously named Knox County's teacher of the year for 2013.
She says she was inspired to teach because her parents didn't have the opportunity to earn a college education.
Of the 30 years she's been teaching, the last six have been as an AP calculus teacher at Farragut High. During those six years, every single one of her students has taken the AP calculus exam, and 97 percent of them have earned college credit.
"She moves students past seeking only the correct answers and on to the why of learning," said Farragut High School Principal Michael Reynolds.
