(WBIR - Farragut) The 5th annual Tennessee ToeOff Trot on Saturday helped raise money for people across the state who have trouble walking. The annual three mile run and walk raises funds to give out free orthotic braces to help adults and children walk.
Many of the brace recipients suffer from some form of paralysis or nerve injury. One of the resulting disorders is called foot drop which causes a person to not be able to raise their foot properly.
ToeOff Trot director Leslie King temporarily suffered from foot drop a few years ago and said the donated braces have a huge impact on a person's life.
"It helps people be able to return back to their normal life, and have a much more satisfying and happy lives," King said.
All of the money raised from Saturday's raise directly funds walking braces for Tennesseeans in need.
