A truck driver from Nashville is charged with kidnapping and raping a woman at a west Knox County truck stop.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the woman went to the TA Travel Center on Lovell Road to meet Joseph Godsey. She told investigators that they had a previous relationship and that he owed her money.
When she climbed into the cab of Godsey's tractor trailer to talk to him, she said he forced her into the sleeper cab, duct taped her mouth and ankles, and raped her. She said she broke free of the tape, but then he hit her with a hammer in the back of the head several times and said he was going to kill her. She said he then pulled out a knife and cut her on the right ankle and right arm as she tried to fight him. She said he then stabbed her in the neck below her throat.
She said she talked him out of killing her because she's a mother and her kids need her to take care of them. He let her go, and she drove herself to the hospital.
