If your heat goes out in your home, the first person you call is the heating repair service.

Technicians have seen a surge in calls the past few days.

While they are attending to these calls, they also have to make sure they are staying safe while roughing the elements.

Jeff Combs is a technician with Aire Serv Heating and Air Conditioning.

He said he wears multiple layers, and has to take breaks to warm up and to prevent frostbite.

"We just have to take a break if we have to go warm up. Overall we are trying to help the customer out so they don't have to freeze either," said Combs.

Combs said Aire Serv has three other technicians they send out, and one installer.

He said he's answering nearly double the normal number of calls.
