One of Knox County's K-9 cops now has some extra protection, thanks to a local veterinarian and some kind-hearted clients.

On Wednesday, Officer Bodie received a bullet proof vest thanks to money raised by Lange Animal Hospital in West Knoxville. During a recent open house, they asked folks to donate money to buy the vests, which don't come cheap!

In just three hours, they raised over $900 dollars.

"Fortunately the men and women area able to get a bullet proof vest but some of the dogs are not able to have that so why don't we do that. So we thought why don't we do that and the more we protect, the better it is for them and the better job thatthey can do," said Dr. Randy Lange,

The Knox County Sheriff's Department currently has 20 K-9 teams but only 8 had bullet-proof vests. Bodie makes the ninth.
