(WBIR) Emergency personnel drove a woman to the hospital shortly after midnight Sunday after she was stabbed outside of a west Knoxville sports bar.

The victim told police a homeless man came up to her inside Doc's Grill on Kingston Pike and asked her to drive her to a location nearby in exchange for $20.

Once they got in her car, the suspect held a knife to the victims throat and demanded money, according to a Knoxville Police Department release. He reportedly stabbed the victim in the right hip when he learned she didn't have any money and ran out of the car, heading east on Kingston Pike.

When police arrived at the bar at about 12:30 a.m., they found the victim inside the bar's restroom.

An ambulance drove her to UT Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
