The West Hills fire station is getting a $7,500 check to go toward new equipment and gear.

The Fireman's Fund Insurance Company donated the check Tuesday evening. The fund, founded in 1863, helps widows and orphans of fallen firefighters.

The money came from the Heritage Program which rolls profits from the company back to the community..

"Anything we can do to support them whether that's equipment, funds-- that's the core of what the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company is about," said Marcus Paxton.

The West Hills station says it plans to use the $7,500 for new equipment.
