(WBIR) A Bearden High School teacher is on paid administrative leave after allegations he had inappropriate contact with a student more than eight years ago, according to Knoxville police.

Knox County Schools placed him on leave with pay Feb. 7, pending a Knoxville police investigation.

Since officials haven't charged the teacher, 10News won't release his name.

A KPD spokesperson said the department can't release any more information at this time.
