(WBIR) It felt more like the Emerald Isle than we would normally see in East Tennessee this time of year on Monday. Cold temperatures and mist all day Monday made it one of the colder St. Patrick's Days in the last decade.
"True Irish weather, true Irish weather," recalled Jon Ferrie owner of The Irish Times in Turkey Creek. "The luck of the Irish -- and as long as the rain stays away, the great thing about the pub is it doesn't rain in the pub or the tents."
Temperatures between Knoxville and Dublin, Ireland were almost identical -- the foreign city was actually warmer than East Tennessee. That did not stop the sea of green heading to the Irish pub this St. Patrick's Day.
"Everything's going to plan; we encourage everyone to come out and celebrate their Irish heritage," Ferrie added.
The weather did not ruin plans like the outdoor bar or the annual tug o' war between Knoxville police and fire departments.
