(WBIR) A man was sent to hospital with serious leg injuries after he was pinned between the wreckage of three-car crash in northwest Knoxville early Wednesday morning.

A couple's Acura ran out of gas while traveling on Callahan Drive near Charlie Weaver Way at about 1 a.m.

The driver of a Toyota truck then stopped behind the Acua to see if he could help. Moments later a PT Cruiser slammed into the back of the truck, trapping the driver between the wreckage and his Acura, according to Knoxville police.

Crews took Britt Guess, 22, of Knoxville to University of Tennessee Medical Center with serious leg injures. Currently there's no word on his condition.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

Officials charged the driver of the PT Cruiser, Jennifer Roberts, 33, for careless driving, driving on a suspended license and not having proof of insurance.
