(WBIR) Knoxville is moving forward with plans to transform one of its biggest parks.

Tuesday night, the city council voted to approve a contract to demolish several buildings at Lakeshore Park in West Knoxville. NEO Corporation said it would do the work for $1.5 million.

The city is planning several improvements, including a universal playground, a pavilion for the farmers' market, and better access to the Tennessee River.
