Obama to sign minimum wage order

The White House says President Obama will sign an executive order today increasing the minimum wage for federal contractors. Obama first announced the measureduring his State of the Union address. He has cast the move as a way to spur Congress to increase the hourly minimum wage for all workers from $7.25 to $10.10. The president will sign the order at a White House event.

Deliberations in ex-mayor Nagin's case delayed

Deliberations in the federal corruption case against former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin were delayed for a day Tuesday because of a juror's unspecified problem, but are scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. today. The 12-member jury is tasked with deciding whether Nagin is guilty of the crimes alleged in a complex, 21-count indictment. Prosecutors say Nagin took bribes worth more than $500,000 in a string of criminal acts that began before Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005 and continued during the recovery from the catastrophic storm.

Wire fox terrier wins Best in Show at Westminster

A female wire fox terrier named Sky won the 2014 Westminster Kennel Club Best in Show honor on Tuesday night. She beat out a field of six runners-up in the event's final round, including a standard poodle that earned the Reserve Best in Show nod for second place and a bloodhound that consistently drew the loudest applause.
