House holds hearing on Ukraine

The House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing today on "U.S. Foreign Policy Toward Ukraine" at 9:00 a.m. Committee chairman Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., intends to, "press the Administration on its policies, and what specific legislation it needs to move forward rapidly." The House is also expected to vote on legislation extending aid to Ukraine, Thursday.

CPAC conference starts

The Conservative Political Action Committee opens its annual gathering today in Washington, D.C. Among the speakers attending the three-day conference are Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Paul Ryan, National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Dalai Lama gives opening prayer at Senate

In an unusual move this morning, the Dalai Lama will give the opening prayer in the Senate. This will be a first for the Tibetan spiritual leader, who recently met with President Obama over strong objections from the Chinese government.

The President and the First Lady host "In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul."

If anyone can pull together a lineup like this it's Michelle Obama. Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Melissa Etheridge and Janelle Monae are booked to play the Women of Soul concert today at the White House. Also performing will be Tessanne Chin, Ariana Grande and Jill Scott. Assuming there will be an exclusive crowd at the event, it'll stream live on the White House website and then air on PBS on April 7.
