Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day
Are you registered to vote?
Well if you're not, today's the day to do so!
State elections officials nationwide have declared Tuesday National Voter Registration Day, encouraging people to register and participate. It's part of a month-long push to get more people registered, so they'll make it to voting booths on election day.
The Knox County Election Commission will have 35 polling locations open today for the City of Knoxville Primary Election. People can go to any of those places to register to vote for future elections.
"National Voter Registration Day is a great time to make sure that your registration is up-to-date or to register for the first time. We are ready to help you in any way we can at any time," said Knox County Administrator of Elections Cliff Rodgers in a statement.

Social media is also playing a big role in this month's promotion. The state is encouraging people to print signs promoting voter registration and post pictures of themselves holding the signs on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #GoVoteTN.
"I am excited to see so many voters sharing their enthusiasm for National Voter Registration Month," said Tenn. Secretary of State Tre Hargett in a statement. "I encourage voters to visit our website to make sure they are properly registered to vote at their current address. Also I encourage even more people to get involved in the campaign via social media."
