Knox County's assistant district attorney general kicked off his campaign for judgeship with the support of two high-profile families on Thursday.
Leland Price began his campaign at Pete's Diner on Union Avenue. He is running to be a criminal court judge for division three.
The Christian and Newsom families have both put their support behind Price. He helped prosecute the defendants in the murders of their children, Channon and Chris.
"He's a very honest person, a hard worker, and we believe like Mary said he will make a good understanding judge. This is a great community. I want it to be the best it can be. I want it to be a safe place, a place that's vibrant," said Hugh Newsom.
Price will run as a Democrat, G. Scott Green is running as a Republican.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story reported that G. Scott Green is a Democrat. Green is a Republican. It also mentioned several candidates from a different race.
