A Knoxville Democrat met with community members Thursday as he campaigns for the U.S. Senate.
Terry Adams is running against Senator Lamar Alexander. Adams grew up in Nashville before joining the Navy to help pay for school at UT. He now works as an attorney in Knoxville.
Adams says he's not worried about campaigning as a Democrat in a historically right-wing part of the state.
"I don't think the people of Tennessee give one rip about left and right and where he stands and where they stand-- they want common sense about solutions. They want people in Washington to solve problems, not go cause them," said Adams.
Adams said his campaign will continue this week with stops in Nashville and Savannah.
