State lawmakers looking to create a limited school voucher program say they're close to reaching a compromise.
Two proposals are up for debate in Nashville. One would offer aid to students from low-income families attending the bottom 5-percent of failing schools.
The other measure would expand that to the bottom 10-percent of failing schools.
The bill's sponsor says both sides are close to settling the disagreement.
Governor Bill Haslam supports the voucher program, but only for schools in the bottom 5-percent.
