(WBIR) New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will head to the Volunteer state in May.
The Tennessee Republican Party formally made the announcement Wednesday that Christie will headline the annual Statesmen's Dinner on May 30.
Christie has been thought of as a possible presidential candidate. According to CNN, the speech will be his first southern trip that is open to the media.
A press release with the official announcement described the fundraiser dinner as the largest gather of Republicans in the state. It said the event raised nearly $500,000.
South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott delivered the keynote address at the 2013 dinner. Other former speakers include former Vice President Dick Cheyey, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Mitch Daniels.
