Gov. Bill Haslam said he visited with officials at Hankook Tires in Seoul and took part in a business reception at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo during a recently concluded six-day trip to Asia.
The Tennessee governor said executives were receptive in general to his overtures as he pitched the state's economic development potential. Representatives from 90 companies took part in the embassy reception, and many other business leaders were willing to speak to him, Haslam said.
"There's a sense there that if the governor shows up, people are going to take the call," he said.
Haslam said he also visited troops from Tennessee stationed in Seoul and in the Demilitarized Zone separately South Korea from North Korea. He returned to Tennessee on Thursday.
