The answer is still, "No, at least not yet," but that doesn't stop the Washington politics magazine National Journal from becoming the latest publication to ask whether U.S. Sen. Bob Corker is running for president.

The National Journal piece includes several of the signs of presidential ambitions -- a rising profile as a Washington "deal-maker," the vague non-denial from Corker, the accolades that come with working in a bipartisan manner. (We'll add one of our own: an article in National Journal.)

But what's missing is just as telling. The piece does not report any concrete steps yet toward a 2016 campaign.

The senator says he doesn't think he has to make up his mind until after the first of the year, but still it's probably only a matter of a few months before we know for certain if Corker will do it.

With the White House wide open in 2016, both primaries should get heated fast. The race will probably make the long, crazy GOP nominating process in 2012 look like elections for church deacon. (OK, we'll concede, those can have some strange politics, too.)

Call us when Corker forms an exploratory committee or has decided to say yes.

Seriously. Call us. I think we're all ready to know.
