Former Tennessee basketball Scotty Hopson is on the move. Hopson played 14 minutes in the first half of Cleveland's NBA Summer League game on Friday night in Las Vegas and was informed at halftime that he had been traded to the Charlotte Hornets.

Hopson and cash considerations will go to Charlotte in exchange for center Brendan Haywood and the draft rights to forward Dwight Powell, the 45th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Hopson signed a two-year deal with Cleveland on March 31, 2014 and made $1.35 million last season while appearing in two games for the Cavs, scoring one point and recording a steal and an assist in seven minutes of action. The Kentucky native is scheduled to make $1.45 million this season but the deal is non-guaranteed.

Before signing with Cleveland, Hopson played internationally in Greece (2011-12), Israel (2012-13) and Turkey (2013-14).

Haywood, who missed the entire 2013-14 season due to a stress fracture in his left foot, was awarded to the team on July 14, 2012, off waivers after the Mavericks designated him as their amnesty player. In 61 games played for Charlotte, he averaged 3.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 19.0 minutes.
