Former Vol pitcher turned Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey was in town today. Dickey is shared a testimony of faith at First Baptist Concord hosted by CAK.

On the field, Dickey is just finishing up his 11th season in the big leagues, his first with the Toronto Blue Jays. Dickey was 14-13 this season riding his signature knuckleball. R.A.'s off the field life has been filled with turmoil, he opened up in his book about overcoming sexual abuse as a child. Tonight he spoke to the kids at CAK about overcoming his personal struggles.

"Hope is the biggest part of my life," said Dickey. "In order to get to that place you have to walk thru a little bit of darkness and that's part of the story too. Hope is the word that I hang my hat on."

The former Vol also enjoyed his first season as a teammate with fellow former Vol J.P. Arencibia, who recently got engaged to Kimberly Perry of the Band Perry. R.A. says he's given a little advice to his teammate.

"You know baseball is a game of ego," Dickey said. "My advice to him is you gotta start tearing that ego down when it comes to being a good husband. And he gets it."
