Disgraced and exiled former USC coach Lane Kiffin will appear on Saturday's version of ESPN College GameDay – set in Seattle for Oregon-Washington – and sit for an exclusive one-on-one interview with host Chris Fowler, where one can only assume the two will discuss geopolitics, the government shutdown and protecting our endangered species.
Or how Kiffin's turn at USC deteriorated with extreme velocity after being anointed the preseason No. 1 heading into the 2012 season. That's probably more accurate.
The interview will be must-see TV, if only for the fact that Kiffin is going to speak publicly for the first time since his firing late last month. Remember his prior departures – from the Oakland Raiders and the Tennessee Volunteers, respectively? His end-of-days goodbye from Oakland was defined by the back and forth with former owner Al Davis. Kiffin announced he was leaving UT in 2010 with a terse statement for the assembled crowd of pitchfork-wielding local journalists.
Anything else? Well, under the radar, Kiffin might be able to give Fowler and ESPN a nice preview of Oregon's date with Washington. And who knows? With his coaching stock at an all-time low, a solid performance under GameDay's bright lights could segue Kiffin into a new career: TV analyst.
