A big week on the hardwood has earned a Vol senior his first SEC Player of the Week honors.
The SEC announced Monday that Jordan McRae took top offensive honors this week, after averaging 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists in wins over The Citadel and Tennessee State.
UT says McRae shot 64 percent from the field (16-of-25) and 55.6 percent from three-point range (5-of-9) in UT's two triumphs last week while leading the Volunteers in scoring in both games. He also tallied five blocked shots, including three against The Citadel.
McRae, who is on both the John R. Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy watch lists, is second in the SEC in scoring (21.5 ppg), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.4), sixth in 3-point shooting (.450) and 10th in blocked shots (1.5 bpg).
McRae is just 85 points away from becoming the 45th all-time member of Tennessee's 1,000-Point Club.
