The Vols' leading receiver won't participate in Spring practice.

Volquest.com is reporting that Alton "Pig" Howard is on a leave of absence from the team. His status for the future is unknown.

Brent Hubbs says that Tennessee has been working with Howard on some personal issues and trying to help him all semester.

Howard, a 5'8" receiver from Orlando will be a junior this fall.

According to UTSports.com, Howard, played 11 games last season with 10 starts. He led the team with 44 catches for 388 yards and made three touchdown catches.
