(WBIR) Even though the Lady Vols are out of the NCAA tournament, there's still a lot at stake for the Volunteers as the University of Connecticut plays Notre Dame in women's finals tonight in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
Lady Vols legend Pat Summitt and UConn's Geno Auriemma are currently tied for the second-most NCAA national championship titles with eight. But if Auriemma wins tonight, Summitt will drop to the third-most NCAA wins. Currently, UCLA's men's coach John Wooden holds the record with 10.
It's expected to be an excited game against Notre Dame and UConn, who both have undefeated seasons.
No matter the outcome, Summitt will continue to be the all-time winningest coach - men or women's - in NCAA basketball history. The Clarksville native has won 1,098 games, 32 SEC championships and eight national championship during her career with Lady Vols, spanning 38 years.
