It's official. Dominic Woodson is officially a Vol.
As our partners at govols247 reported earlier this week, the 6-10, 290-pound forward who played last season at Memphis has transferred to Tennessee.
Coach Donnie Tyndall announced Friday that Woodson is enrolled at the university, but his eligibility status for next season has yet to be determined. He has three years of eligibility left.
"Dominic certainly adds some physicality and size to our frontline," Tyndall said. "He has great upside. If he continues to improve his body and conditioning, he'll have a chance to be a very good player at this level."
The Texas native appeared in 20 games during his freshman year with the Tigers. He averaged 2.5 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting .423 from the floor and playing 6.8 minutes per game last season. In a road game at SMU, he pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds.
"First of all, thank you to (head coach Josh Pastner), his staff and the University of Memphis for the great opportunity they gave me," Woodson said. "I'm very excited about my opportunity to be at Tennessee and play for coach Tyndall. I've learned from my mistakes and realize I have a lot of work to do to achieve my goals and dreams. My efforts moving forward will be focused on making my family and all the people who have helped me proud."
UTSports.com said the addition of Woodson to the Tennessee roster gives the Vols a program-record eight scholarship newcomers for the 2014-15 campaign.
