(WBIR) A College Football Hall-of-Famer and member of what is called the University of Tennessee's 'best recruiting class ever' passed away Tuesday night.

Hank Lauricella, a member of the 1948 recruiting class for UT, died in Louisiana, his home state. Lauricella played under famed coach Gen. Robert Neyland from 1948-1951.

In his senior season, 1951, Lauricella was named an All-American, averaging 7.9 yards per carry in leading the Vols to a 10-0 regular season. Tennessee was named national champions prior to its Sugar Bowl appearance and Lauricella finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting.
