KNOXVILLE (WBIR) - Vols guard Robert Hubbs says he's staying at Tennessee.

The soon-to-be sophomore guard tweeted Thursday: "I started out at Tennessee and im staying at the University of Tennessee.. "

Hubbs was a five-star prospect from Dyer County (TN), but played just 12 games for the Vols before having shoulder surgery.

Hubbs was not eligible to receive a redshirt. If he transferred he would likely have to sit out an entire season.

The 6-foot-6 Hubbs played 18.3 minutes per game, averaging 5 points, shooting 30.7 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from three.

There was some question if Hubbs would remain at Tennessee after Cuonzo Martin left for California, and Donnie Tyndall took the Vols job.
