Vols coach Donnie Tyndall says Robert Hubbs III has been fully cleared to practice. Hubbs had shoulder surgery in January.
KNOXVILLE (WBIR) - Speaking at his first Big Orange Tipoff Club, new Vols basketball coach Donnie Tyndall said that sophomore guard Robert Hubbs III is cleared for full-contact practice.
"There was no soreness, there were no bumps along the way. Knock on wood he's been good," said Tyndall.
Tyndall said Hubbs has already participated in one full-contact work out.
Originally Tyndall was hoping Hubbs would be cleared by June 1, but gave him several extra weeks as a precaution.
Hubbs played in just 12 games as a freshman before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.
He was not able to receive a medical redshirt for the season because he played in more than 30% of the team's games.
The five-star recruit from Newbern, Tennessee averaged 5.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per contest.
Hubbs decided to stay at Tennessee despite Cuonzo Martin leaving for California in April.
