The woman who wrote Pat Summitt's biography was in town Thursday to share stories about the historic Lady Vols coach.

Sally Jenkins was the keynote speaker at the second annual Don Sproles Memorial Dinner at the Knoxville Crowne Plaza Hotel.

After an introduction from current coach Holly Warlick, Jenkins addressed the crowd. She had a unique history of how she met Summitt.

"I was taking a taxi to go meet her for the first time and interview with her and the taxi broke down and had a flat tire and the taxi driver didn't know how to change the tire, so I had to help him do it. So I arrived to meet the great Pat Summitt with greasy hands and I had to apologize and explain what happened, and she kinda gave me the once over. But then she decided she approved of me because I had helped change a tire, so I think she gave me the nod of approval," said Jenkins.

Jenkins also signed copies of her book, 1,098 Victories, A Couple of Irrelevant Losses, and a Life in Perspective.
