(WBIR) The Lady Vols are the champions of the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament for the 17th time.

The physical back-and-forth battle between the Lady Vols and Kentucky came down to the wire.

Senior Meighan Simmons scored her 2,000th point along the way give UT a two-point lead with a little under two minutes left in the game.

Simmons would get sent to the free throw line again with 10.7 seconds and the Lady Vols ahead by two, 69-67.

She drained both, putting the Lady Vols up by four, 71-67.

With the final seconds of the game ticking by, Kentucky's Jennifer O'Neill would get fouled on a 3-point attempt with the Lady Vols still up by four. But only 0.7 seconds left on the clock.

O'Neill would hit all three, but the Lady Vols successfully got the ball in bounds and held on for the 71-70 win.

With Sunday's win, the Lady Vols could potentially get a No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament.

WBIR 10 sports reporter Courtney Lyle reports from Duluth, Ga., where the Lady Vols won their 17th SEC Tournament championship on Sunday.
