Knoxville Ice Bears try out new talent from all over the world. WBIR

The Knoxville Ice Bears Free Agent Showcase took over the Civic Coliseum this weekend. Fifty-six players from all over the world put their talents on display for a shot at making the team.

"They give it all they've got for a couple of days and we evaluate as quickly as we can," said head coach Mike Craigen. "We pull a few of them out of this camp to move on our main training camp. It's quick. It's basically a mini camp for us."

The free agents were divided into three teams and scrimmaged Saturday. There will be one big scrimmage Sunday at 10 a.m. before the coaches evaluate the talent. The scrimmage is open to the public.

"I'm really just looking for the best overall players this weekend," explained Craigen. "Guys who can handle the puck and play the game at a high speed."

Opening night for the Ice Bears is Friday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
