Kansas City, KS (Sports Network) - Hendrick Motorsports revealed on Fridaythat team member Andrew Collier was the brother of Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology police officer Sean Collier, who was killed during an overnightshootout with two Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

Andrew Collier, 25, is a machinist in the Hendrick Motorsports enginedepartment. He joined the team in September 2008.

The team released a statement, saying, "The thoughts and prayers of everyoneat Hendrick Motorsports are with Andrew Collier and his family."

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson also expressed his sorrow toCollier's family during a press conference at Kansas Speedway, which is thesite of this weekend's Sprint Cup Series race.

"It's a very sad time, and my thoughts and prayers are with the Collierfamily," Johnson said. "I certainly know that it's the same for all ofHendrick Motorsports. We're one, big family. It's sad and unfortunate to see afellow teammate and his family going through such a tough time."

Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne also drive for Hendrick inNASCAR's top series.
