NASCAR star Austin Dillon paid the Vols and Butch Jones a visit on Thursday.
KNOXVILLE (WBIR) - Defending Nationwide champ Austin Dillon took a trip to Neyland Stadium on Thursday.
The 24-year old star got a tour of the facilities from Tennessee coach Butch Jones.
The two even exchanged gifts.
Jones gave Dillon a signed Vols helmet, and a brick, to fit with the "Brick-by-Brick" motto.
Dillon gave Jones and AD Dave Hart signed racing helmets with a Vols theme.
Dillon even got to do some quarterback drills in front of Jones and offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian.
"They were pretty impressed," Dillon said. "I think most people give the NASCAR non-athletic group, I like to think of myself as a pretty athletic person. I like going out and proving how NASCAR drivers are athletes.
Jones was impressed.
"Well we put him right through, he didn't even have time to warm up," said Jones. "Accuracy drills. I have to tell you, the first one, it was the same routine we put our quarterbacks through in the spring game and I do have to tell you on his first throw he made it in to the net. It's a moving target so he did a great job."
Dillon was in town to help promote the Aug. 23 Bristol night race.
The two also helped promote the 2016 Battle at Bristol between Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
