NASCAR's four-day media tour kicked off Monday in Charlotte. USA TODAY Sports offers quick look-ins on team news conferences.
Team: Stewart-Haas Racing
Drivers: Tony Stewart; Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch; Danica Patrick
Changes: Harvick replaces Ryan Newman; Busch added to the team in a fourth Chevrolet mandated by co-owner Gene Haas.
Recap: The happiest NASCAR team on Earth has a sunny disposition on all fronts, particularly co-owner Stewart after missing the last 16 races of the 2013 Sprint Cup season with a broken right leg. Stewart downplayed the potential for combustible chemistry ("everyone looks at it as a great opportunity to be a disaster, we look at it as a great opportunity to be a great match"), sang NASCAR's praises for an overhaul of qualifying and endorsed co-owner Gene Haas' Formula One plan ("there's things down the road that could benefit the Cup team").
Best quote: "If we're fighting, I'm kicking you in the leg." -- Harvick, playfully warning Stewart after being told knockout qualifying didn't mean throwing punches.
Offbeat moment: Hard to choose just one from the irascible Stewart, who was in devilish midseason form while commanding the room as he relishes. "I'll show you how to use your computer later," he cracked to one reporter, noting that news of his impending approval to return to a race car had reached the Internet.
Noteworthy stat: Only one of SHR's four crew chiefs (Tony Gibson with Patrick) was in that role for this team last season.
Number of times "excited" was said in general session: 22, with 20 courtesy of Stewart.
