The USA Today High School Game of the Week will be at Campbell County as they host Anderson County. Both schools have undefeated records and for the most part, high scoring games. This game should follow that high scoring trend.
Campbell County's Joseph Elkins was just named Week 2 Player of the Week so they will no longer have a secret weapon falling under the radar. However, as Coach Matt Price told us Tuesday, "the good players will find ways to make the great plays." This game will be fast-paced and broadcast the offensive stars on each team.
Fulton is on a scoring streak and do not seem to be letting up on any team. They have accumulated a 161-0 score between their three games. This Friday Farragut is going into tough territory at Fulton that any team should be weary to enter. It has been 37 years since these two teams have played and there is a lot of history between these two teams. Terry Brooks took a deeper look into the history that you can catch tomorrow on TV before the game. Farragut has built a great football program so they should give a better run than previous teams that have played Fulton.
With a week off and now on the road, Webb is out for blood with the rough start to their season as they travel to CAK. The Spartans have had extra time to prepare and are ready to lay it all out on the field. Although, CAK will not be taking this game lightly as well as they fell short in overtime last week to Catholic. Both teams are hungry for a win as neither team's record is what they expected it to be at the beginning of the season.
Oak Ridge should be sweet enough to overtake the Red Devils this week at Halls. Oak Ridge is coming off of a huge win to Clinton and they will bring momentum to the game. On the other hand, Halls has not been able to get it together throughout their two games. Halls will really have to push hard on their defense to stop Oak Ridge from gaining points quick.
Morristown East will travel to Bearden for Week 3. Morristown East is weakening as the season rolls on. The Hurricanes started with a huge win and then a close 35-34 win over William Blount, and last week they lost to Sevier County. However, this loss was not as severe as Bearden's loss to Sevier County in Week 0. Bearden is coming off of a strong win to Heritage, but got destroyed the week before that to Fulton. Morristown East should take the win on this game as they need to take the win as well to pick back up their momentum.
Losing records for Gibbs and Clinton, as each will battle to even out at 2-2 at Clinton Friday night. Both teams have suffered a loss to Anderson County, but Gibbs did not get as destroyed as bad as Clinton. Both of these teams have a lot to prove, but Gibbs should pull away for a close one this week.
Jefferson County finally is getting to play under the Friday night lights as they have played in two Thursday night games so far this season. This game will be a true test for Jefferson County as they host Greeneville. Greeneville has had two huge wins. The Green Devils have gone very under the radar even though they have destroyed both teams they have played. Allowing very few points and beating their opponents by 40 or more.
Seymour is another team that will have high momentum going into Week 3. Seymour will be hosting Heritage which should be a fairly easy win for the Eagles to soar through. Heritage has yet to win this season while Seymour is coming off of a district win. This will be a tough battle for the Mountaineers.
Little is known about what could happen at West tomorrow night as they host an out-of-state school. Asheville High School will be visiting East Tennessee to face off to the Rebels. This should be a good game and chance for players to stand out on both sides of the ball considering there have not been many outstanding stats so far this season from either team. Asheville is winning on the road, but West will have the home advantage by large since Asheville will have to cross state lines to get to this game.
Dobyns-Bennett will host Sevier County. Sevier has the upper hand in this game against the Indians. Although, Dobyns-Bennett will have a lot of energy going into this game after their huge 48-6 win over Volunteer to make them 1-0 in their district.
