The USA Today High School Game of the Week that will be broadcast on 10News2 is at Lenoir City who will host Hardin Valley. Both teams have a 4-4 record right now so this should translate into a solid match up. Hardin Valley has been in a slump losing four of their last five games; while Lenoir City has won three of their last five games. Lenoir City's defense has been showing up in recent games with the exception of #1 Maryville. Therefore, the Week 9 Game of the Week should go in the Panther's favor.

Farragut will host William Blount in a district match-up. The Governors are 2-6 right now and struggling to gain another win. This week is not looking too good for them as they face the Admirals. Farragut is coming off of a big 38-6 win over their rival Bearden, and will come out ready for battle.

Bearden will be feeling the heat even on a chilly night as they travel to Maryville. Maryville has proven to be unstoppable, and will claim their stomping grounds at least once more tomorrow night as they will handle the Bulldogs with ease.

Alcoa will host an unfamiliar opponent from Nashville. Maplewood high school will make the drive to Knoxville to face the Tornadoes. Alcoa has only suffered one loss to their rival Maryville, and will give Maplewood a strong challenge. The Tornadoes should be able to wrap this one up in a breeze.

Sequoyah who is coming off of a huge 47-0 win over Kingston will make a journey to Clinton for Week 9. The Chiefs have been able to take control in almost all of their games, despite two close losses. Clinton on the other hand has been all over the place this season. Two weeks ago, their offense could only put up six points against Powell. However, last week they were able to put up 60 points against Central. One common denominator in determining their games though is their defense. If Clinton stands a chance in Week 9 then the defense will have to step up majorly and put a stop to Sequoyah's offense.

Halls continuing their defeated season in Week 8, will travel to Anderson County. The Mavericks have only suffered one loss while the Red Devils have not even collected one win. This will not even be a close one. Anderson County will win big.

Gibbs will host Powell for their district match up. Gibbs has only collected three wins this season and Powell has only suffered three losses this season. The Panthers will be able to secure another win to their record and hit the road with their heads held high after visiting Gibbs.

Oak Ridge has had a solid season and will face one of their first challenges with only two weeks left to play in the regular season. The only other two schools that they have played that have proven themselves to be a solid team, Farragut and Campbell County, have defeated the Wildcats. They do have a better record than Central, who they will face on the road this week, but a record is not saying much in this game. Central will sneak by and take the win at home against Oak Ridge.
