Sullivan South just took out Fulton's big rival last week in the first week in a 40-23 win over Carter. Fulton just recently destroyed the Hornets in a 69-0 win the last week of the regular season. This week, Fulton will be hosting Sullivan South. This will be a showcase of offense on both teams. However, Fulton should come out on top once more with a big win before they face the winner of the Elizabethton at Greeneville game.
It has been over a decade since South Doyle has made it past the first round of the playoffs. This week, the Cherokees are given the opportunity to make that long-awaited appearance at Anderson County. The will have a challenge on their hands as the Mavericks have only suffered one loss. They have a strong offense that South Doyle will have to be ready to defend against. This will be a great offensive match up.
Two schools will meet for the first time in their school's history this Friday at Grace Christian who will host Oneida. Grace Christian recently added two years ago a new member to their coaching staff. This new coach was previously the head coach at Oneida. Therefore, the rivalry began to rise quickly for this week's match up. The Rams had a bye week for the first week of playoffs; the Indians are coming off of a 17-7 win to Tellico Plains. Luckily, Oneida has had a strong defense all season and they will need to hold their ground against Grace's explosive weapons.
Campbell County has a challenge on their hands this week as they head to visit West. The Cougars have had a strong defensive game all season being led by Nick Bailey. However, West has had an incredible offense that has not shown much mercy. West has actually only had two games in which all of their points were scored by offense alone. Therefore, Campbell County will have a lot on their hands to pull of the win this week.
Maryville struggled in the first half of their first playoff game last week against Bradley Central. This week they will have a bigger challenge as they host Morristown East. The Rebels cannot play with the careless penalties that they had last week if they plan on making it out alive tomorrow night. Maryville should come out on top, but that is only if Maryville plays Maryville ball.
Pigeon Forge is making a run in their history. They will make a journey down to Alcoa for round 2. Pigeon Forge has never made it this far in the playoffs, and they are not ready to stop. They will be putting up a fight at Alcoa. However, this fight may be a little too difficult for them. Alcoa showed out last week against York Institute. The Tornadoes have been wrapping everyone up early and blowing them out with a strong gust and this week will most likely be no different.
At even records, there could be a possible close game at CAK hosting Johnson County. These two teams are not used to playing one another, so it should be interesting to see how it plays out. The Warriors offense has come alive especially in their last three games. Johnson County's defense has allowed too many points scored in past games. Therefore, they could find trouble quick. CAK has the home field advantage in this game and will come out with the win.
Webb will be hosting University School of Jackson tomorrow night. The Bruins defeated Webb in the playoffs two years ago, so the Spartans will be ready for revenge. Webb has the better record in this match up; they have a seven game streak currently. Webb should secure this win early and easy.
Battle of the offenses at Sevier County who will host Science Hill. Science Hill put a whopping 90 points on David Crockett at the beginning of the season, and the Smoky Bears do not show much mercy either. This will be a game to catch if you are looking to find high energy, high momentum on a Friday night.
