After taking over the program in 1992, Steve Brewer is stepping down as the head coach at Sevier County High School.

Brewer told WBIR 10 Sports he has accepted a position at First Baptist Sevierville. He will serve as the Minister of Discipleship and oversee the education programs. Brewer said he was offered the job in September, but took time to think about it and get it approved by the church.

Brewer coached high school football for 33 seasons, 22 of those at Sevier County and won a state title with the Smoky Bears in 1999.

Brewer says he will miss Friday nights the most, adding "there's nothing like it".
