The TSSAA Board of Control Meetings started Tuesday night in Murfreesboro. A new classification system for football was proposed.
In the new system, 6A would be made up of the top 32 teams based on enrollment. They would be divided into four regions and all would make the playoffs. Local teams that would be included in 6A would be Bearden, Farragut, Jefferson County, Hardin Valley, Sevier County and William Blount.
The remaining 273 schools would use the old 5-class system.
Schools could move up to 6A, but another school would have to move down.
The board did not vote on it Tuesday night.
The Board of Control did vote to remove the following items from the district/region tie-breaker criteria:
1. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams in its own class
2. Ten yard-line overtime procedure at neutral site Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting will resume Wednesday at 8 a.m.
