(WBIR, Knoxville) - For more than 20 years, hundreds of high school football players got a once in a lifetime experience-- the chance to play in one of the country's most iconic college sports venues. But this year, Neyland Stadium isn't hosting the event.

Instead it's up to two local high schools to set the stage for the upcoming season. Ten teams will play at Central High School on Thursday, and ten different teams will play at Bearden High School on Friday.

"We think we are prepared," said Central Football Coach Bryson Rosner. "We feel pretty good about the facilities and how everything is set up, looking really nice for the jamboree."

Knox County Schools is making some changes to make sure the excitement of the Jamboree isn't lost.

The Jamboree traditionally is only a one night event. This year it is split into two nights and will start at 7:00.

"Everybody will play between 7:00 and 9:00. Prime time. It's prime time for everybody," said Athletic Specialist for Knox County Schools Marion Quinn.

Coach Rosner hopes the fans will still take this opportunity to come see all the teams play.

"It's also good for the fans and Knox County to get to come out and support their teams in a bigger atmosphere and a bigger environment," he said. "Everybody kind of gets to showcase what they've got."

If you plan to attend both nights of the Jamboree, you will have to buy a separate ticket for each night.

Thursday matches (at Central High School):

  • The King's Academy vs. Tennessee School of the Deaf
  • Carter vs. Campbell County
  • Gibbs vs. West
  • Webb vs. Central
  • Fulton vs. Hardin Valley

Friday matches (at Bearden High School):

  • Austin-East vs. Halls
  • South-Doyle vs. Catholic
  • Lenoir City vs. Karns
  • Bearden vs. Powell
  • Farragut vs. Anderson County

Channel 10 is hosting a high school tailgate at nearby Buddy's BBQ's on both nights. Click here for more information and join us for the fun!
