A 3-D printing company in East Tennessee showed off its newest technology Fiday.
ModernTech in West Knoxville hosted a 3-D printing seminar, to show people how the technology is changing manufacturing, engineering and even the medical fields.
3-D printers aren't in most homes yet, but they are making a difference in the lives of millions of people.
"3-D printing, it touches your daily life. when you wake up in the morning, for example, you turn off your alarm clock. That's been 3-D printed. You go in and you dry your hair, for example, that's been 3-D printed at some point to test it. Your shampoo bottle has been 3-D printed to make sure that design is good. Before you actually leave to go to your car you've touched 10 products that have been affected by 3-D printing," said Kevin Sumner.
ModernTech says its 3-D printers can make products out of plastic or a rubber-like material. Its customers are from all industry segments, ranging in size from small organizations to multi-national companies.
