Israeli President Shimon Peres will visit the White House on June 25 to meet with President Obama.
The Obama administration made the announcement Wednesday in a readout of meeting in Israel between Peres and National Security adviser Susan Rice.
Rice also met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a trip devoted to the U.S.-Israeli strategic relationship, including stalled talks with the Palestinians.
"Ambassador Rice reaffirmed that the only path to a lasting peace is for a secure Jewish state to exist side-by-side with a viable, independent Palestinian state," said the statement on the Peres meeting.
Rice delivered the same message in the Netanyahu meeting, according to a separate statement, and also told the prime minister that "the United States will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon, and that diplomacy is the best way to resolve the international community's concerns peacefully."
