TDOT road crews have been out all day treating the roads with salt brine.

Crews applied the brine to interstates, highways and state routes across East Tennessee.

Some of the roads in the Knoxville area still have some brine left on them from last weekend's threat of a dusting of snow.

Officials say that helps, as they prepare for this round

"Right now in the Knoxville area we still have a lot of salt that is on the roadways from when brine was applied back last Friday. So they're fine for right now. The outlying areas, upper East Tennessee, higher elevations, places like that, we've got crews out there applying brine today and they will do so throughout the day," said TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi.

TDOT officials say they're watching the forecast closely and crews will be ready to keep the roads clear when the weather hits.
