SEVIER COUNTY, TENN. - Roadwork will close one lane of the Gatlinburg Spur during the evening and overnight hours next week.
Starting on Sunday, May 21, workers will begin paving operations on that section of the Parkway that connects Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It is part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The lane closures will be in effect from 7 p.m to 7 a.m. There will be no work on Friday and Saturday nights.
Work is scheduled to begin on Sunday evening on the Wiley Oakley Drive Crossover Bridge to be followed by the Huskey Grove Road Crossover Bridge and then the Gum Stand Road Crossover Bridge as the week progresses.
Construction work is dependent on the weather, so that could affect the schedule.
The Sunday-Thursday closures will continue until work is complete, which is expected to be June 15.
