Country singers are getting a lot of love in Hollywood this month.
Last week, Vince Gill was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and on Monday, Rascal Flatts received the prestigious honor. The trio's star is located in front of the Sergeant Supply Store at 6664 Hollywood Blvd.
"I'm obviously really, really thrilled," said bass player Jay DeMarcus
after the ceremony. "I'm rarely speechless, but it's hard to express
how honored and humbled I feel by that, because in a relatively short
time, we got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When I think about 12
years ago playing in the Fiddle and Steel Guitar Bar (in Nashville), I
never dreamed we'd be standing where we were this morning. It was very
surreal and totally numbing.
"I told them that I was going to make
a trip back out here next month to make sure it's still there and it
wasn't a dream. Me and the guys were just kind of staring at each other
like, 'Can you believe this happened to us?' "
The members of the trio also brought their families along for the big event. Singer Gary LeVox
had wife Tara and their two daughters, Brittany and Brooklyn, with him.
DeMarcus flew his mother and his wife, Allison, out to the big event,
and guitarist Joe Don Rooney's wife, Tiffany Fallon, also was there.
"It was very sweet and very, very neat to see everyone there to support us," DeMarcus said.
While
they were in California on Monday, the men appeared on "The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno" and performed their current Top 15 single, "Come
Wake Me Up."
The trio will play Bridgestone Arena Oct. 19. Tickets are $28-$62.75 through Ticketmaster (
