Duchess Catherine's acute morning sickness has prompted her to cancel a planned appearance at Wednesday's U.K. premiere of The Hobbit.

Palace officials said Tuesday Prince William's wife "will continue to rest privately" rather than go to the show, reports AP. Wills still plans to go the premiere. The event is a benefit for the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund and William will meet trustees and beneficiaries of the charity, the film makers and members of the cast.

Kate Middleton has canceled all public engagements since her brief hospitalization last week for hyperemesis gravidarum that causes sustained nausea and discomfort. Her pregnancy is still in early stages. She and William are now spending time quietly together at Nottingham Cottage, the home they share in the grounds of Kensington Palace, reports the Daily Mail.
