"I'd like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life," Shakira tweeted to her followers today.
Will we soon be getting a baby announcement from the star?
Update:
8 pm. Yes! The baby has arrived. "We are happy to announce the birth of
Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born
January 22nd at 9:36 pm, in Barcelona, Spain," according to a statement
issued by Shakira's rep.
"The hospital confirmed that the couple's
first child weighed approximately 6lbs. 6 ounces, and that both mother
and child are in excellent health," it added.
There also was some
name meanings: "The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving
and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in
Sanskrit, unification." (And it's the name of a major industrial city in
Italy.)
Huffington Post
reports that the Colombian singer, 35, and Spanish soccer player Gerard
Pique, 25, were originally expecting the baby to arrive Jan. 20.
La Razon website
says the singer was admitted to a clinic in Barcelona. Photographers
camped outside spotted the couple approaching a ramp attached to the
emergency room.
