Like sister Pippa Middleton yesterday, Duchess Kate and husband
Prince William turned up at a horse racing meet today in England, where
she glowed in a dusky pink coat that completely camouflaged whatever
baby bump she has at more than five months pregnant.
"Kate's in the pink!" gushed the Daily Mail,
describing the Joseph peachy-pink coat, and her boots, bag, gloves,
tights and bow-trimmed Betty Boop hat in dark brown. The coat matched
her "healthy complexion," the paper reported approvingly.
From the
pictures, both looked happy and relaxed. She has clearly recovered from
the acute morning sickness that put her in the hospital late last year,
but the cold English weather and her slim figure have combined to
ensure few glimpses of the royal baby bump. The baby is due in the
summer.
The
couple were attending the National Hunt meet in the spa town of
Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, about 100 miles west of London. The
National Hunt is one of the most important events on the U.K.'s horse
racing calendar and today was the fourth day of the meet.
The former Kate Middleton's sister, Pippa,
29, appeared at the meet Thursday dressed in a mustard yellow coat and a
big Russian-style fur hat, accompanied by a handsome pal who was not
her boyfriend.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in time
to see an afternoon steeplechase to cheer on a competing horse owned by
cousin-in-law Mike Tindall, married to Zara Phillips, the equestrian
daughter of equestrian Princess Anne who won an Olympic medal during the
Summer Olympics in London.
Anne also was at the races today. An estimated 200,000 people were expected to attend the four-day event.
Although
the day at the races was a "private" engagement, nonetheless captured
by scores of photographers on the scene, the Cambridges are due to
participate in a public event on Sunday, visiting the 1st Battalion
Irish Guards at their barracks for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.
William is a colonel in the regiment and Kate will hand out the traditional shamrock sprigs to officers and guardsmen.
